Locks Heath’s title challenge was hit this week when they were held to a 3-3 draw by Colden Common.

With the visitors also on the fringes of the chasing pack hot on the heels of Locks Heath, this was always going to be a tough fixture.

But with both sides having netted 133 goals between them this season it was never going to b anything but entertaining. And so it proved.

And it was the usual strikers on the score sheet with Jordan Neal and Ryan Lock adding a goal apiece to their season’s tallies, while Ashley Tattersall scored the third for Locks Heath.

The result keeps Locks Heath top of the pile and with points in the bag, but they have played more games than their nearest rivals. Colden Common lie in fourth place and 16 points adrift but have five games in hand.

This weekend will be crucial for assessing Locks Heath’s title chances – second placed Stoneham are the visitors to the Locks Heath Recreation Ground for a 2pm kick off.

Stoneham are 12 points behind Locks Heath, but with five games in hand could overhaul the long- time table toppers. A win for Locks Heath this weekend would remove that advantage.
