Two portable dugouts will be bought for the club to use at their base at Locks Heath Recreation Ground in Warsash Road after the grant from Fareham Borough Council.

Dougie Leaske, chairman of the sport and social club, plans to have the new dugouts  ready for the first home game of the upcoming season to provide shelter for players. The dugouts will be wheeled away at night.

“It’s great news,” he said. “The dugouts that we have got are impractical, they’re an eyesore and seem to be a beehive for local youths to gather. Because we’ll be taking the dugouts away and only using the portable ones for games it does mean there will be more preparatory work for us, but it will reduce the chances of vandalism.

“It will make it easier on the eye for everyone and it removes it as a potential trouble area.”

Executive Leader for Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward said: “Locks Heath football club run teams for all ages and are an integral part of the community, this use of the Community Fund will benefit their players by helping to make sure that they have a good standard of equipment that lasts.”
